Melinda Owens

After 34 years in education, it was an honor to begin as Kids' Director at GBC on July 1, 2026. I have had the opportunity to serve in many roles in Barren County Schools, and I am forever grateful for the relationships and friendships I have made over the years. I look forward to new connections with families and children at GBC for many years to come. My husband, Scott, and I were married on October 16, 1992. We enjoy traveling, cooking for friends and family, and finding new places to eat. We are blessed with one daughter, Malia, and her fiancé, Noah. We are excited to be celebrating their marriage in October, 2026. One of my favorite Bible passages is Philippians 4:4-8 - "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable - if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy - dwell on these things."
